National Poetry Day

Work

I went to work on Monday
To earn an honest bob
I worked just like a Trojan
I did a real good job

I went to work on Tuesday
Completed every task
I did more than was expected
They only had to ask

I went to work on Wednesday
And did what I was able
To provide well for my family
And put food upon the table

I went to work on Thursday
I held my head up high
My heart swelled so much with pride
I thought that I would die

I went to work on Friday
To earn an honest crust
But I won't be going back next week
'cos the company's gone bust
