It's so easy to shrug things off and say "I'm fine" you may fool others but you can't fool yourself. Of course there's the other side of the coin you can go through the day (or your life) thinking "woe is me". Stop for a moment and consider that you're not the only one who may be putting on brave face.
I’m Fine
I’m as guilty as the next man
I’m just the same it’s true
When someone asks “how are you”?
Reply “I’m fine” – I do
Sometimes we’re feeling rotten
Sometimes we are unwell
Why do we always say “I’m fine”
When we’re not if truth would tell
Is it because we’re British
And too polite to say
“I’m feeling lousy actually”
“I’m having an awful day”
Is it because we’re worried
In case they’re feeling blue
And say “that’s odd, that’s funny
‘cos I’m feeling dreadful too”
Then we would have to listen
To all their cares and woe
It’s easier just to say “I’m fine”
Then off to work we go
