Panic not - I don't compose my poems in the buff (well not very often!) The other night I was talking to friends and saying that I felt that by blogging my poems I'd bared my soul. Occasionally this leaves me feeling very vunerable. Therefore I thought the phrase "The Naked Poet" was a good analogy.

Poets

There’s Wordsworth, Keats and Shelley
Famous poets to name but three
Who for their written works of art
Have gone down in history

And then there are people’s poets
They’re just like you and me
Who try to tell it how it is
Perhaps not quite as eloquently

It’s not about what we’re saying
Nor even how it looks
It’s all about our feelings
Our lives are open books

Sometimes we may be funny
Sometimes we may be sad
Sometimes we like to have a moan
About the day we’ve had

Perhaps something just hits us
Right between the eyes
Or creeps on us quite slowly
And gives a big surprise

It’s not just words but feelings
Or a memory or a dream
Sometimes a hidden message
They’re not always as they seem

So grab a pen and paper
Or sit at your PC
And try your hand at writing
A people’s poem – like me
