......... sadness and tears of joy.
It's strange that two opposite emotions can produce the same thing - tears.
Many songs have been written about them "Tears of a Clown" "Tears for Souvenirs" "Tears in Heaven" to name but three.
There are also expressions like "I laughed 'til I cried" "Blood sweat and tears" "What soap is for the body, tears are for the soul"
I wrote the following after a friend of mine had read some of my poems - she said she didn't know whether to laugh or cry. She did both!!!
Poetry Emotion
I’m feeling a little bit sad
I’m feeling a little bit glum
I’ve just read one of Marian’s poems
So pass us the tissues mum
I’m feeling a little bit lonely
I’m feeling a little bit blue
I’ve read another of Marian’s poems
Which made me go boo-hoo
I’m feeling a little bit jolly
I’ve laughed till I’ve got a sore tum
I’ve just read another stupid poem
So pass us the tissues mum
I’m feeling much better all ready
That last poem cheered me up
Perhaps I should try just one more
As I sit with me tea in me cup
I knew I shouldn’t have done it
I wish she wasn’t my chum
I’ve just gone and read another
So pass us the tissues mum

I'm thinking of posting it on my other blog on Thursday

You forgot to mention my personal favourite, "I never wronged an onion, so why do they make me cry?"
