When a relationship ends it can be likened to a bereavement afterwhich it's natural to have a period of mourning. Too often bitterness ensues and many precious memories can become trampled underfoot. Rather sad I think.

After a while though it's time to draw a line and lay to rest any bad feelings. I make no apologies for repeating this poem.

The Bitter End

He said “we” were made for each other
He said “we” should be friends
He said “we” should be happy
With a love that never ends

He said “we” should be together
He said “we” should never part
He said once “we” were over
He’d have a broken heart

She said that this would happen
She said that it would end
She said “we” couldn’t carry on
With her just as his friend

She told him it would happen
He couldn’t see the signs
He didn’t hear a word she said
But he read between the lines

She said that he’d be bitter
She knew how he would be
When “we” were not an item
But only “you” and “me”
