You say something and immediately you wish you could take back what you've just said? ......... but too late the harm is done!
Mind you the written word can be much worse. The spoken word is often eventually forgotten but the written word takes ages for the ink to fade. It's also open to misinterpretation when take out of context.
Then there are those times when words are simply not required .......
Unspoken Words
Silence, they say, is golden
Some things are best unsaid
A word could spoil a notion
Imagined in my head
I haven’t heard you speaking
Have yet to hear your voice
But know the words unspoken
Will make my heart rejoice
I know you’re thinking of me
The knowledge that you care
Means more to me than anything
Mere words cannot compare
No need for silence broken
There is nothing that I lack
For once a word is spoken
You cannot take it back
Sweet silences are golden
Strange as it may appear
Whilst you remain quite silent
I hear what I want to hear
