Today I arrived home to find a single red rose on my doorstep and my heart missed a beat. Surprises such as this mean so very much especially if, like me, you're in a long-distance relationship. New relationships can be very difficult at the best of times but as you get older they can become far more complex. Past experiences often account for this.
Because
I cannot give you all my heart
For it was cruelly torn apart
The pieces scattered everywhere
I tried to pick them up with care
And piece by piece, bit by bit
Those shattered fragments began to fit
That broken heart of mine did heal
And tenderness again could feel
The scars became a silver line
I felt your heart beat next to mine
I heard you say you loved me so
And that you’d never let me go
I was afraid I’d feel the pain
That history would repeat again
My fragile heart might break once more
With scattered pieces on the floor
I dare not give you all my heart
There’ll always be a missing part
I’ll keep a fragment in my hand
And hope that you will understand
