A Coniston Moment!

Now that summer is rapidly coming to an end it's good to look back at the hightlights of the year. This year I've been fortunate to spend some lovely moments back in the UK with someone very special to me. It would be difficult to choose the very best moment for there were so many of them. These little pieces evoke many happy memories.

A Day to Remember

Tea for two
A lovely view
Me and you
A dream come true

Lakes and trees
A gentle breeze
Take our ease
Do as we please

Forests and flowers
Summer showers
Lazy hours
Leafy bowers

Mountains high
A far bird's cry
You and I
Can't say goodbye

I've been here before
I remember it well
We were four foolish teens
Who got lost on the fell

I've been here before
I remember it clear
We were a heartbroken couple
Who each shed a tear

I'm here once again
I'll remember this day
We are two happy people
Who met on the way

You are supposed to be learning lines, but I enjoyed them both.

  Rehearsals started yesterday and continue each Sunday until Xmas so I'm more relaxed about my lines now. Next task is to learn the all the words to "Flash Bang Wallop" and "Gotta Pick a pocket or two"!

That must be a version of Alladin that I don't know, you sure it's not, "Half a Sixpence" or "Oliver".

Both originally in a cockney accent,"'wot a pickture" "muney dasen't grow on trees".

Incidentally I knew Lionel Bart, auditioined for the very first "Oliver", not the star part.

Everyone must have noticed that you have been prolific in your output of beautiful poems, full of joy and happiness and creativity ! It's little wonder therefore that you say in your last two lines of a 'Day to Remember'

Reading it again brought me great joy; it must be one of your best.

I remember a teacher advising me only to write about what you have experienced / know about . David.
