Well it's been a little while since I posted anything here but I have been popping in from time to time to see what everyone has been up to. I'm sure I'll have missed a lot but I needed time out with my family. Not to mention trying to learn my lines for the pantomime Aladdin. Before you ask, the lines haven't been learnt and the first rehearsal is this Sunday so here comes three days of cramming. Before that here's a little one I prepared earlier!

Poets

There’s Wordsworth, Keats and Shelley
Famous poets to name but three
Who for their written works of art
Have gone down in history

And then there are people’s poets
They’re just like you and me
Who try to tell it how it is
Perhaps not quite as eloquently

It’s not about what we’re saying
Nor even how it looks
It’s all about our feelings
Our lives are open books

Sometimes we may be funny
Sometimes we may be sad
Sometimes we like to have a moan
About the day we’ve had

Perhaps something just hits us
Right between the eyes
Or creeps on us quite slowly
And gives a big surprise

It’s not just words but feelings
Or a memory or a dream
Sometimes a hidden message
They’re not always as they seem

So grab a pen and paper
Or sit at your PC
And try your hand at writing
A people’s poem – like me
