I wrote this on Monday but got a bit side-tracked by normalguy's touching posting about my poetry. I then went on to write "Remembering" and "Toys Were Us". Anyway eventually here's that promised poem which I'll dedicate to Terry aka "normalguy" from the "Goddess of Meaningfulness".

Mightier Than The Sword

I thought my words were harmless
I didn’t realise
The images I’d conjure up
In someone else’s eyes

How could I have imagined
Right at the very start
That the words that I had penned
Would pierce right into your heart

My words are not a weapon
To harm in any way
But a simple tool I use
To help me through the day

Words to encourage or amuse
To show I really care
For people I have never met
And those who’s lives I share

So each time that I take my pen
And write a thought or two
The words are never meant to hurt
Someone as nice as you
