The sun was shining but I didn't want to get up. I guess you know the feeling?
Creature Comforts
He wanted me to stay in bed
He wanted company
He wanted another cuddle
With his body next to me
He wanted me to stay in bed
He started to look sad
I guess another hour in bed
Wouldn’t really be so bad
He looked at me with sparkling eyes
He held my gaze so steady
How could I say I had to go
And leave my darling teddy

Ah, sweet, which is not something you could say about the Teddy I had as a kid. I swear he used to kick me out of bed during the night. Not that anyone ever believed me when I'm told them about it. In the end I had no choice but to eliminate him.

I occasionally use this ploy in my poems - it makes me smile.
This one in particular evoked the following comment:- "You've done it again. I was just thinking you meant it for me when teddy appeared!"
