This is something I wrote for my mum a few Mothers' Days ago. It lasted longer than flowers - I hope you like it - she did!

Mum

I remember home-baked bread
Kitchen table, hot jam tarts
I remember you made me stilts
And the lads flat carts
I remember my favourite kilt
Being turned into a rug
For you needed some green
Then you gave me a hug
I remember outings like Seven Hills
Where we fished now and then
Ilkley Moor, Cow and Calf
And our annual visit to Shipley Glen
You would take us for walks
When the evenings were warm
And you’d buy us Fry’s Five Boys
From the shop at the farm
I remember plot toffee, Guy Fawkes, bonfires
Catherine Wheels and sparklers every November
But today I remember to say thanks for being there
And providing me with these happy memories to remember
